Over the recent 5-10 years, properly designed and controlled clinical trials with acupuncture
have been conducted.  These offer more formal assessment of efficacy of acupuncture's role in medical treatment either alone or in combination with other accepted treatments , and further support the endorsements by the WHO/World Health Organization (1979) and the NIH/National Institutes of Health Consensus on Acupuncture (1997).  Studies are easily searchable from www.pubmed.gov .  Here is a sampling or please contact me for more research:
